"Proper education and information on hazards related to their areas are critical for all communities." - Tripurari Kumar, New Delhi, India
1. We
don't need to create any new parallel system but need to implement
the structural framework in the existing DM act-2005 to all sphere of existing
system.
2. Types of disasters are area specific and
need to be mapped accordingly and government should provide all information
regarding hazardous areas online to the public domain. For example, Delhi is seismic IV zone and
the zonation map should be one of the prime instrument while planning for
urbanization or any development plan for the cities. Likewise the all sea banks
should be mapped and the related information should be circulated to local
public.
3. Indian Ocean Tsunami
is completing 10 years and nothing had happened in between.
These kinds of disaster has high incubation period and it occurs when
practically local public are unaware. The political motives always drive them
to make settlements near vulnerable spots led to
mass settlements in high hazardous zone so our focus should be to
provide enough warnings or awareness so that if disaster will struck
will cause minimal loss.
4. At last, we known children are our future
and resources too, we need to educate them properly and provide all information
related to their areas, how to escape from disaster, evacuation plan,
preventive plan in school curriculum.
